There are plenty of activities to discover in the local area, both indoors and outdoors - all year round. We've made a list of recommendations for you to enjoy.

Afternoon Tea

Sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, jam, biscuits, and much more are served on tiered plates. For groups of 10 – 40 people, we can arrange a preferred date for afternoon tea.

Wine tasting

Enjoy a tasting of 5 different wines at VinVærket.

Our sommelier will customize the tasting according to grape, country and district if desired.

Potter Simonsen

Located just a few steps away in the pedestrian street, Potter Simonsen is a pottery with 7 generations of potters. Potter Simonsen will show you their art and tell the story that helped build Sandnes.

City walk with guide Evy & Alltid sin fotspor

The series was filmed in Sandnes and Jæren. Here you get a city walk through the center of Sandnes to see the different places in the city.

Bubbles tasting

Enjoy a tasting of 5 different sparkling wines in VinVærket with our wine expert.

Beer tasting

Roger Sund takes you on a journey through the world of beer. 8-10 types of beer with a taste of caramel, aromas of apple and chicken, roasted raisin and black chocolate. Your taste buds will be set in motion and you are guaranteed to have a different appreciation for beer after this evening. The duration of the event is approx. 1.5 hours and is best suited for groups of up to 30 people.

Price NOK 725,- per person. Minimum 10 people.

Trip to Dalsnuten

Dalsnuten is one of the region’s most popular hikes, and at 323 meters above sea level it offers fantastic views of Sandnes, Sola and Stavanger. On the way down from Dalsnuten, you can stop at Revholdstjørn for a well-deserved swim if you’re tempted to cool off on a hot summer’s day. The tour starts at Gramstad, which is a 10-minute drive from Kronen Gaard Hotel.

Canoeing

Waves crashing, birds chirping, blue skies, and a few hours to spare? Kronen Gaard Hotell has 11 canoes that are ready for use in the Lutsi-Ims watercourse at Alsvik. Life jackets, oars, and maps of the area are available at the hotel. If you want to combine the trip with dinner or packed lunches, we will make the arrangement in collaboration with Kronen Gaard Hotell.

Vintenfabrikken science center

Vitenfabrikken is an interactive museum and science center in the heart of Sandnes – just a 5-minute walk from GamlaVærket.

Vitenfabrikken is a modern science center where the public is encouraged to participate and explore. Through interactive exhibits, the aim is to spark the interest of children and young people in natural science, mathematics, energy, astronomy, and technology. Play, competition, and experimentation are central to a visit to Vitenfabrikken.

Kongeparken amusement park

From GamlaVærket it’s only 15 minutes by car to Kongeparken, which is an adventure for the whole family.

Here you can visit the Freia Chocolate Factory where you can make your own chocolate. You can also ride Humla, Norway’s largest carousel that takes you 10 meters above the ground, meet some cute animals on the farm, and enjoy exciting activities!
